Rea Walldén is a film theorist and filmmaker, and holds a PhD in philosophy. Currently, she works as an expert at the Greek Ministry of Education and teaches at the Hellenic Open University. She is writing a book on Greek avant-garde cinema. She has been a researcher in Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the Athens School of Fine Arts. She has taught in the Film School of Aristotle University, the Athens School of Fine Arts, University of Thessaly, Cardiff University and Cardiff Metropolitan University. She has been a member of the Working Group on Audio-Visual Education in the National and Social Dialogue for Education, as well as in the Board of Directors of the Greek Film Centre. She is a member of the Hellenic Semiotic Society, the International Association for Semiotic Studies, the Society for European Philosophy, the European Network for Avant-Garde and Modernism Studies, and Women in Film and Television – Greece. She has co-written the script for the feature film Thief or Reality by Antoinetta Angelidi; and shot short experimental films.
