Mikela Fotiou completed her PhD in Film Studies at the University of Glasgow and her PhD thesis is entitledThe Cinematic Work of Nikos Nikolaidis and Female Representation. Mikela co-organised the international conferenceContemporary Greek Film Cultures 2013 (London, 5-6 July 2013), she is a co-editor of a special issue of Filmicon: Journal of Greek Film Studies stemming from the conference, and the curator of the following CGFC events (University of Washington, Seattle, May 2015). Mikela currently co-edits the volume Contemporary Greek Film Cultures from 1990 to the Present (forthcoming, Peter Lang, spring 2016), where her article ‘Unpopular Pop Culture: Nikolaidis’s ‘Necrophilic’ Diptych Those Who Loved A Corpse’ will also feature.
